I failed to mention in the previous post that the baptism service was another good evangelistic opportunity because of some of the family that attended. So we made it an evangelistic service and shared the gospel by explaining the difference between Christian baptism and baptism in other religions!
Worldliness & Baptism
26 11 2007Yesterday morning we started into I John 2:15-17, and John’s teaching about the danger of love for the world. I think we struggle to let God examine our hearts for worldliness, because it isn’t one of those ‘acceptable’ sins that we are willing to admit.
A good portion of our church family joined us for a 1:00 baptism service for two of our young people. Here’s the testimony from a 14 year old girl who was baptized yesterday:
I had always wanted to be baptized, ever since God and my parents helped me to understand what it meant, but for years my pride kept getting in the way.I believed that I was a sinner deserving of Hell, and had accepted Christ as my personal Savior. Therefore, I believed that the next step was to be baptized.
I was always afraid of what people might think if I told them I was not baptized. About a month ago, I went through spiritual heart breaking pain.
The next morning as I awoke,I heard a voice in my heart saying,”Follow my commandment.” I prayed to God to strengthen my heart and to prepare it for His will.
His will was there and my pride was gone. I have felt like a new person ever since, wanting only to do His will and for His glory! How true the one verse is that says, “Weeping may endure for a night ,but joy cometh in the morning.”

Thanksgiving Blessings
19 11 2007It was very encouraging to listen to the Thanksgiving testimonies from our church family. We spent our entire adult Bible study time praising the Lord through these testimonies, and it could easily have continued for a lot longer.
Then on Sunday afternoon we had a memorial service for the parent of a lady in our church. It was a good evangelistic opportunity, and once again our church family did a great job of helping in every way possible. While many of our recent evangelistic efforts have seemed to be dead ends, the Lord has allowed us to spread the gospel through these memorial services. We’ve done four in the past year, and at all four a significant portion of the attendees were nonChristians.
