Five Years!

chartersundaycakesmallFive years ago to the day: Sunday, November 9, 2003 we held our first official public service at Callie Kirkpatrick Elementary School! David, Heather, and Kyrk; Kristalyn and I; Jerry & Renee; and one other family for a grand total of 13 people sitting on those hard chairs in that big room! We knew that the most important work was the work God was going to do in our own hearts. We knew that church planting was a marathon, not a sprint. We knew that our job was faithfulness. And beyond that we didn’t know much!

Lord willing this Saturday our five-year-old church family will gather and celebrate. While they cannot fully understand what the planting of GBC was like, they can understand that it was a small beginning, and that God has certainly chosen to work and do some things for His glory.

Kindergarten, here we come!

What a reminder of God’s mighty grace and his commitment to His church!

You know, the majority of our church planting team relocated and moved to Alexandria, Virginia, exactly 4 years to the day (November 9th) after your first official worship service! God used your example as a family and a church to inspire me and our team to move to the Washington D.C. area and plant Grace Church of Alexandria. We rejoice in this special day with you and keep your church family in our prayers.
